Decked Builder - Mobile Apps for MTG

Hi all,

We are happy to announce that we should soon be getting price feeds from CoolStufInc onto Decked Builder. This gives Decked Builder a single store source for prices. Compared with TCGplayer.com, you will not need to pay for shipping from 3-4 different vendors when purchasing from CoolStuffInc. We finally have a source of foil prices as well!

Please note that purchasing cards through CoolStuffInc via the app provides us a small commission which allows us to keep our image and news servers running.

We have also added a way to easily flip between price sources when viewing a card via small buttons at the top, and when pricing a deck as well.

We must apologize for the delay in getting the Decked Drafter write-ups done. Marlon has been down with pneumonia for the past week but hopefully he will get better soon. I will make sure he reads any get well messages posted below.

Hi all,

Decked Builder 2.5 is now available on the App Store (or should be in a little while).

While we had to disable deck building, we have introduced buy lists and wish lists as a replacement. This will let you keep track of the cards that you plan to buy, as well as purchase the physical card directly from tcgplayer.com or digital cards from mtgotraders.com. All our existing deck analytics (stats, testing, filtering, sorting etc) will continue to work on buy lists, and you will be able to easily import old decks as buy lists.

Other new features include mtgo-stats.com integration from the news tab (read more from a previous blog post here), and a new price expiry feature.

In version 2.5, the app will show stale prices (older than 24 hours) pulled from it's local cache marked with a *S next to the price. If you wait a short while, it should pull up the latest prices and display them. This means you will almost never need to flush the price cache again to see updated prices, and if you have no network connection, you can still see older prices.

We still plan to continue helping you build decks in Decked Builder, and our near future plans include increasing the range of stores and prices that you will have available in the app -- making it easier for you to find the cheapest way to obtain the cards you need to build your decks in real life.

As usual, we more than welcome any feedback and suggestions at support@deckedbuilder.com.

Hi all,

We finally sat down and figured out a look for mtgo-stats.com that we like (and hope you do too). Check out the screenshot below and head over to our new front page to check it out.

Some interesting decks that you might find:

Hi all,

It's been a busy two weeks. Other than the whole furor over Wizard's legal action, we have also been hard at work on other stuff:

- Dark Ascension HD art should now be available

- We just released Dark Ascension for Decked Drafter, currently only with Marlon's ratings and no write-ups yet.

- We have submitted Decked Builder patch 2.5 to Apple for approval. It will remove the deck building functionality (boo!), but it also contains some other goodies: direct integration with mtgo-stats.com to allow you to view decks directly in the app. Check out the screenshots below!

We will be spending the week coming up with a new plan for Decked Builder -- while we can't focus on deck building anymore, we sure have a long list of stuff to do to help you manage your collections! Feel free to write in with your suggestions.

I played around with Wizard's app from a deck building perspective. It has all the basics, but I think there is plenty of room for improvements. And they seem to have copied the basic look and feel for displaying cards directly from Decked Builder (see below).

Just a few points:

- I can't seem to swipe to browse through the cards. Instead, when I'm viewing a card, I have to hit back and then select another card to view it. Hitting back also makes the app lose my previously selected position in the list. This really irritates me.

- Where's the HD card art?

- No way to manage your collection?

- Why does it take 4 steps to add a card to a deck? When I'm viewing a card that I want to add, I have to (1) Click the + sign on top, (2) Click Add to Deck, (3) Click the deck that I want to add to, (4) Click OK on the popup.

- Can't click on a card when reading an article to view it.

- No proper support for split cards, e.g. you can add Assault and Battery as two separate cards to your deck

- No proper support for Kamigawa flip cards -- try searching for Budoka Gardener and it won't be there.

They could have at least got the last two points correct since it's their cards after all... and not to be sour grapes or anything, but it looks like they'll be visiting some of the same bugs and issues that I have. And I guess a way to price decks and collections from the app would be nice. :)

Dear all,

WOTC legal has decided to come down on Decked Builder again -- this time to pave the way for their new deck building app, now available on the iTunes store. Unfortunately, this means that we will likely have to disable the deck building functionality on Decked Builder and focus more on just providing card prices, information and news. And we need a new icon that does not have a color wheel.

Once the DKA patch is released, I'll be releasing a patch 2.5 to disable deck building functionality and making the app free for all. Of course, you can continue to build decks with Wizard's new app -- I think they are closing down all the other app developers too.

Thank you for your support all this time, and for writing in all your great suggestions and ideas. We still have some unimplemented ideas that do not involve deck building so work on Decked Builder will still continue unless Wizards decides to shut us down completely.

Regards,
Tan Thor Jen
