Decked Builder - Mobile Apps for MTG

Hi all,

We have just released Decked Drafter 1.4.1 for Apple's approval, fixing some bugs which have recently come to light. The full change list is as follows:

- Added Innistrad cards.
- Fixed bug when updating the database out of sequence would cause it to load an older version when restarting.
- Night-side cards are now loaded when starting an Innistrad draft.
- Added length checking when downloading card art to ensure that it is correctly downloaded.

If you are afflicted by any of these bugs, your fix should be coming soon. A big thank you to everyone who had wrote in to report these issues, your input is much appreciated. If you have encountered any other issues with Decked Drafter, please write in to support@deckedbuilder.com.

Hi all,

We are happy to announce that Decked Drafter's in-app database has been updated to version 8, which includes Marlon's updated write-ups for Innistrad, as well as several card rating changes. Thank you for your patience, and good luck with your Innistrad drafts!

Hi all,

We are currently looking for beta testers to help test Collections on the iPhone. We would be especially interested if you use the Mac edition of the app as well, or if you use both the iPad and the iPhone to test the iCloud integration between the apps.
If you are interested in helping to shape the Collections feature of Decked Builder, and have access to an iOS 5 device, just register your iPhone and iPad at testflightapp.com using the URL below, after which we will be able to push the build down to you. All that we ask is that you be prepared to drop us an email on what you think, and any bugs that you find.

With the release of iOS 5, we are now able to bring collections support to the iPhone using some of the new document-centric technologies, including iCloud. Collections will basically be integrated into the app using 3 main entry points:

1) When viewing a card, you can tap the SB button to input cards into your collection
2) You can view your collection from the search results page (you can also search your collection from the search screen).
3) You can filter your deck to see missing cards.

We have also revamped the search screen to make it easier to view the search criteria being applied.

The primary purpose of collections in Decked Builder is to help you figure out what cards you are missing from your collection to complete your deck, and it has been streamlined to serve that purpose. We currently do not track foils, foreign language or alternate artwork cards.

Hi all,

Just a little note to let everyone know that the Decked Drafter Innistrad write-ups have been completed by Marlon and are currently in review (for grammar, spelling errors etc). You should have them in about a day or two (takes a while to review 28,000+ words).

Hi all,

Apple has just released Decked Drafter 1.4 to the App Store. We have also updated Marlon's ratings, so please update your database to version 6 as well. Unfortunately, as we have been focused on getting the ratings correct, the write-ups are only 60% complete as of now (white, red and black cards are done).

We have decided to release the Innistrad set without the write-ups first as some might be interested in just practicing with the draft bots, and we seek your patience in waiting for the full write-ups to be complete, which we are hoping will be by early next week.

- TJ

He was a visionary, and we owe our iPhones, iPads and Macs to him. Without him, this app would not be possible. Thank you for all your contributions to computing and to the world, Mr Jobs. You have certainly left the world a better place than when you first found it.

Hi all,

We are happy to announce that we have released Drafter 1.4 to Apple for approval. The patch contains all the code changes required to properly support Innistrad transform cards and the new pack generation algorithm for them. The patch contains Marlon's preliminary card ratings and no card descriptions yet. We hope to have the card descriptions ready by the weekend, together with Marlon's updated ratings. We will then push those updates out via the app's internal update mechanism.

We have also enclosed another card writeup from Innistrad below, enjoy!
Olivia Voldaren
Rating: 95
If Olivia is not the best card in the set, she’s in the top three. Keep in mind that with her red ability she gets a +1/+1 counter for each damage that she deals, even if the creature lives. And even without using her red ability, there are plenty of other vampires in the set for her to take control of. If Olivia stays on the battlefield for even a turn or two then she will almost always win you the game. She is a certified bomb, and her abilities border on unfair.

Hi all,

We do realize that everyone is anxiously waiting for the Innistrad release for Decked Drafter, including me actually! While Marlon has been trying to figure out the set (it's really different from Scars), we have also been working on adapting Decked Drafter to Innistrad.

In particular, the pack generation algorithm took us a while to figure out, and we are not completely sure of it yet. Based on empirical evidence, this is what we have concluded so far:

- Every pack contains exactly one transform card, which takes the place of a common

- We currently use the following distribution for the transform card: 3/15 chance of it being an uncommon, 7/120 chance of it being a rare, 1/120 chance of it being a Mythic Rare. Otherwise, it's a common.

- This means it is possible for a pack to contain 4 uncommons, or two rares/Mythic rares (see screenshot below)

This is what we have observed so far from opening packs. Do let us know at support@deckedbuilder.com if you think otherwise!
