Decked Builder - Mobile Apps for MTG

Hi all,

We are happy to announce that we have released patch 2.7 to Apple for approval. This is the patch for Avacyn Restored, and contains the following changes:

- Added Avacyn Restored cards.
- Added an events calendar courtesy of mtgmom.com (accessible from the news page).
- Added missing split cards in Planechase, namely Order // Chaos and Assault // Battery.
- Added HD art for many of the Premium and Duel decks.
- When displaying unique cards, the app will prioritize core sets over other sets like duel/premium decks, and will favor later sets like Magic 2012 over earlier ones like Tenth Edition.
- Updated DropBox API version (fixed Cancel button problem on DropBox).
- iPad: You can zoom into a card by pinching on it from the Build page.
- iPhone: When you zoom into a card by pinching on it, you can now scroll through the cards by swiping.

We have also updated the Mac edition to bring all it's feature set in line with the other editions.

Check out the screenshot of the new calendar feature below, and do be sure to experiment with the swipe feature after zooming into a card!

Why is apple so slow?

What about Venser vs Koth duel decks? Been waiting forever for that to be added in.

Tim

The thing about Apple... you just have to wait. Hopefully it will be out this weekend... We are hoping to have an in-app database patcher before the next expansion hopefully.

@John: My apologies -- will try to get the Venser vs Koth Duel Deck in a quick point release after 2.7 along with a few other features that didn't make the timeline.

Now apple are relasing its newer version very fastly. It also became the demand of market to do competition with another company they have to do that

I'll submit a request to expedite the review if it's not approved in 7 days. It looks like there might be some Dropbox related issues to the whole thing -- Apple is currently rejecting apps with Dropbox support in them.

Apple is getting ridiculous!

Does the Dropbox issue affect the Mac app or just the iOS apps?

Tyler

I hope they don't reject the Dropbox feature... truly the most helpful part of the app to me due to my multiple iDevices and the fact I like to build on my iPad but will reference stuff on my phone alot! I really Hope this doesn't go away or I will be increasingly disapointed in my purchase at that point!

I love the idea of an in-app database updater! That would be great! It is very important to me that you could have databases updated by the time of release as I do like to keep my collection updated and now I'm stock piling cards in anticipation of the update!

I do understand this however is not your fault!!! Damn you apple! Are you considering making a Porgram for Windows? That would really make for an excellent experience for me and I'm sure many other customers!

Mark

I would love to see a Windows version as well.

Just want to add that I love the app, keep up the good work, thanks!!

I want to second how great this app is, especially on the iPad, and third the call for a Windows version. I would certainly buy that as well. The database updated sounds like a really good idea too.

The dropbox feature is awesome and I use it constantly to "pass" decks between the iPhone and iPad versions of the app. I hope this gets cleared up quickly, I'm anxious to get brewing!

I'm personally going to be boycotting Apple from now on and forever more. So they don't like the Dropbox feature? Isn't a more important consideration whether or not the CUSTOMER likes that feature? Not in Apple's eyes. Sad for them in the long run. It's attitudes like this that invariably lead to corporate demise.

Apparently, there's a roundabout way to purchase Dropbox space from within the app, causing Apple to reject apps that use it. Link explains better than I can.

WOW sorry about that. It gave me errors and apparently that means it's gonna post a bunch of times all at once :(

Really looking forward to adding Avacyn Restored cards to my decks, once Apple gets their butts in gear. I know it is extra devlopment, but I think at least an internal card database upgrade would be a great idea.

Thanks for the comments! I'll be dropping Apple an email to see if they can expedite things for us.... hopefully we don't have to do anything too drastic like removing Dropbox support.

Any response from apple? It is getting annoying all the hoops Apple makes you jump through.

Any chance this app appears on Android any time soon?

Jon
05/07/2012 12:27

I'm willing to not to have the dropbox option for the meantime. I just want the update ASAP for the AVR cards.

Mark

I'm with Jon on this. Can always use e-mail in the meantime.

Also with these guys. I've come to rely on this app for deck building, and it's a PitA to have the update not be available on release.

IPhone app updated! Hopefully iPad will be soon as well Nice job Tan, taking on WotC and Apple both this year!

Still no app update on the store. Any new ETA? Might be nice if card updates were downloaded outside of application updates on the app store. The app store can be a bottle neck (so I understand the delay).

Tan Thor Jen
05/08/2012 03:41

@Bill Hey Bill, are you referring to the Mac edition of the app? The iPhone and iPad editions have been released.

Bill
05/08/2012 03:50

Yes. I've been waiting for the mac version.. The iPhone and iPad are nice but I prefer to manage it all with a larger screen :).

Still wonder why this is designed to be an app update for the MacOs version versus a update DB to get the AVR cards.

App store still shows 2.4.1 as the latest version. Went back to magic workstation to build my AVR decks.

Tan Thor Jen
05/08/2012 05:45

@Bill Yep, I've added setting up an in-app database upgrade for the next patch... wait for it!

EH

Any chance we can get the option to use iCloud for decks like we do with collections? Thx!

Alun

Any word on when the Mac version will be out ? Become so reliant on this finding it hard to brew without it

Jack
05/08/2012 17:56

Its too bad there's such a delay with Apple for the Mac version. Is there any way to release this outside the app store? Sometimes I miss the old methods of software releases... :-)
